Pittsburgh Steelers Shirt

My nephew has requested a Pittsburgh Steelers shirt for his birthday!  These three awesome fabrics were a great find while on vacation in Maryland.  I bought some of all three thinking I'd use the black fabric as a pocket showcasing the football helmet.  The white fabric will be the collar and collar facing, and the gold fabric will be the shirt front, back and sleeves.  Pictured are the pattern pieces laid out accordingly.  The pattern I am using is McCalls pattern M6972 adult size.  If you look closely at the pattern pieces, I have modified the pattern to fit my 13 year old nephew who is a bit smaller than the size small for an adult male and bigger than a youth size.  I scaled down the pattern size small one size as shown by the dark blue lines. It's a bit tricky {sewing tip} - on curves such as the neck line and sleeve, it is required to measure the difference from the 2 larger sizes in very small increments all the way around the curve and duplicate that measured amount for the modified size all the way around.  Just simply reducing the whole pattern by one amount (such as one inch smaller all the way around) will not be to scale.  Check back for progress . . .
